EARLY WORK
Les Débuts
L'INIZIO
How it all started.
It all began in September 2014. It was my first month of my gap year in the UK. I got assigned to a lovely family in the quiet town of Worcester. The scope of that year was for me to learn English. To do so, I went to the Worcester Sixth Form College to socialise and pick up with English through the study of some courses. I had to choose 4 courses and I really wanted to choose them right because that year was an opportunity to try all the things I had never had the time to try before. So I firmly wanted to take an AS level in Dance, Fine Arts, Cinema studies and Performing Arts.

Just a small problem: back then, I couldn't make a full sentence in English nor understand it. And of course, there were preliminary interviews to access each course.
No need to say I fully failed the Performing Arts interview. The Dance teacher would have given me a chance had I understood her simple question "have you ever danced before?". Only Mr Lars, the Cinema teacher, accepted me because "anyway, everyone starts from scratch in this subject".
Then Charlie, the teacher of Fine Arts, came -saying that we managed to have a dialogue is an euphemism... She stared at me straight in the eyes, looked at me with such intensity that she could see something inside of me. After a while, she asked me to follow her (I mean, she made me understand to follow her) and she took me to a huge room made of windows, massive wooden tables, shelves full of colourful jars and canvases on the walls. I immediately knew I wanted to spend time in this classroom. I had to. Charlie turned over to me and she handed me over three pieces of paper, a pencil, an eraser, a seashell and a sea urchin. She told me "you have 3 days to do 3 drawings. Just a pencil. Come and see me on Monday and we will talk."

That day, Charlie gave me a chance... and I took it!
Here is what has come out so far!

ARTISTS' STUDY
Worcester, 2014- 2015
Part of the Fine Arts course I got to follow was to inspire myself from famous artists, reproducing their work and learning something out of their techniques.Â
I still LOVE doing that!
I feel like a child playing video games while furiously scrolling down pages of books of those famous artists.
Here is the outcome!

"Reflet"
That was the theme imposed by one the Beaux-Arts as entrance exam.
Even though I prefered to follow my dreams about Cinema, these paintings will always remind me the million dreams l have.
